When You’re the Business, Coaching Gets Personal
People often ask what kind of coach I am. The answer depends, but it always starts with you.
Finding the Right Words for What I Do
Defining what I do has always been a bit of a challenge. I coach parents. I coach the self-employed. I work with people at all stages of life who want change, confidence, and to be in control. So when someone asks, “What kind of coach are you?” the answer isn’t always neat and tidy.
But business networking events push you to make things clear. Fast. People want to know: What can you do for me?
At one event recently, I kept getting introduced as a business coach. While I work with business owners and the self-employed, that label didn’t quite fit.
I’m not the person who’ll help you map out your strategy, advise you on systems, or tell you how to grow your profits.
What I do is work with the person behind the business — the one juggling responsibilities, making tough decisions, staying motivated, and striving for balance. It’s personal. And so is my coaching.
That’s how this line came about:
“Your business is your business. My business is you.”
And even more clearly:
“Running a business is personal. So is my coaching.”
That’s the heart of it. Whether you’re a parent trying to find your feet, or a small business owner trying not to lose your head — I coach you, not your to-do list.
If you're ready to get clear on what matters most and take control of your journey, let's talk.
